Tazewell High School

Abigail Rhudy earned 1st in the 300M, 500M, and 1000M races at the indoor state track meet and was recognized at Monday’s school board meeting. Abigail is now an 8-time state champion in various running events spanning cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. We believe she is the most decorated athlete in VHSL history, but can't find anyone to confirm it at the VHSL. She is pictured with Coach Keene.

THS Swim Team was recognized by the school board for their accomplishments at the 2A State Swim and Dive Competition held at Virginia Beach. Kim Nguyen- 3rd 100 yd freestyle, 5th 200 yd freestyle Maddy Sawyers- 9th 200 yd freestyle and 10th 500 yd freestyle Maddy was also inducted as the State Vice President of FBLA representing the New River Region and placed first in Electronic Career Portfolio. Tristan Williams- 20th 50 yd freestyle Girls 200 and 400 yd freestyle relay finished 13th in both events. The relay team was Kim Nguyen, Maddy Sawyers, Madi Nunley and Amber O’Quinn. Congrats to Taylor Richardson! 🎉 Taylor teaches at Tazewell High School and has been named High School Teacher of the Year! She is pictured with her principal, Mr. Jerry Smith.

Tazewell area evening run: 4/4/25 Bus 47 will pick up bus 10 students up just like yesterday afternoon. Bus 20 will be covered as follows: Bus 48 will have students that live on Mundytown Road. Bus 34 will have students that live from the entrance of Baptist Valley to Rasnake Road. Bus 33 will have students that live after Rasnake Road

Tazewell Area: Bus 20 will not run again this evening. Buses 48, 34, and 33 will drop off those students.

The Cumberland Plateau Health District will be offering required school vaccinations in April for rising 7th and 12th-grade students. Pre-registration is required. You can go to https://redcap.link/cpspring25 to pre-register.

Spring Break this year starts on Friday, April 18, and ends on April 22nd. Students, faculty, and staff will return to school on Wednesday, April 23rd.!

Jaden Redd (left) and Taryn Stiltner (right) are the co-presidents of the THS DECA chapter. Jaden is also the DECA district president. They are pictured with their advisor B.G. Trump (center). Both ladies received 2nd place at the district-level DECA competitions. Taryn competed in the marketing communications event while Jaden participated in the quick-serve restaurant management category. Jaden and Taryn both placed 6th in their competitions at the state leadership conference in Virginia Beach in the business solutions category. They will be competing in the international DECA conference in Orlando in April! Way to go, ladies!

Friday March 14th: Tazewell Area: No Bus 20 Bus 33 will pick up to Rasnake Road. Bus 34 will pick up Mundytown and Rasnake Road to Adria Road. Richlands Area: No bus 5. Bus 1 will pick up Taylor Circle and Mill Creek Road. Bus 14 will pick up Rodeo, Westmont and Reedy Rd. Bus 64 will pick up 4 Lane West Bound. Bus 65 will pick up Silver Spur and Food City Gas and Go.

Jayden Short was recognized at this week's school board meeting. She is a 9th grader at Tazewell High School and will be attending the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston on June 25-27. The Congress of Future Medical leaders is held at the Univ. of Massachusetts Lowell Campus. This event is an honors-only program for high school students to honor, inspire, motivate and direct the top students in the U.S. toward a career in the medical field. Congrats, Jayden!
